I have succeeded!!! I have been able to make delicious sourdough bread without too much fuss.
It all started with me being introduced to sourdough bread by my hubby 17 years ago. I remember the first time I had it. I ate a whole loaf of it with a ton of butter. Oh, it’s so good!
You see, growing up in Mexico, we had bread. Birotes (also called Bolillos). That is it. Don’t get me wrong. It was delicious. But it wasn’t Pan Bimbo bread. If you were lucky, you got the Pan Bimbo (This is the higher end brand name of sliced bread). I remember being sent to the store to pick up delicious birotes/bolillos. The harder the birotes, the better. (If you’ve ever eaten the baggette from Beyond Bread, you know what I’m talking about.) My Abuela would fill them up with gooey beans and queso fresco. This is for another post. LOL!
Last night was cold and rainy. So I decided to make my amazing and comforting beef stew. We always accompany it with garlic bread and dip it in the gooey thick juice. Yum!
Anyways, lets move on with the sourdough bread. I decided to make a sourdough bread to eat with our yummy stew. It was absolutely amazing! Don’t worry if you would be kicked out of the Hell’s Kitchen show by Gordon Ramsey because you’ve never cooked more than pizza pockets and Pop Tarts. This is super easy to do. Here are two easy ways to make it. I made it the second way last night because I am also one of the Gordon Ramsey rejects. LOL! Check them out below.

Ingredients for the bread machine version:
-3/4 cup of warm water (110 degrees)
-1 cup of sourdough starter
-1 1/2 tsp of salt
-2 2/3 cups of bread flour
-1 1/2 tsp of active dry yeast
Directions:
Add all the ingredients in the order suggested by your manufacturer of your bread machine.
You need to use the “white bread” setting and press start.
It takes approximately 3 hours to bake depending on your machine. So this version needs preparation and lots of time. It is delicious and definitely worth the time.

What I did last night was something different. Although the recipe above is super easy, I found a way easier and quicker way!!!
Directions:
Step One: Go to the store and get yourself a box of Krusteaz- Artisan Bread Mix Classic Sourdough/No Knead.
Step Two: Follow the box instructions to the T. LOL. For the warm water part, I microwaved the water for 30 seconds.
Step Three: Pull it out of the oven, butter it up, and serve it on your favorite platter. I mean, who doesn’t love some Rae Dunn right?
