Dry skin can flake, itch, crack and even bleed. It can be a serious problem and super uncomfortable. Some people have chronic dry skin and there are ways to make it tolerable and bearable. Sometimes dryness can be hereditary, or caused by medical conditions. For me I have always struggled with dry skin and hypothyroidism has only made it worse. Since most dry skin is due to external causes, it responds well to external skin care treatment. Just making a few adjustments to your daily skin care routine can help. No matter what the cause, there are many things you can do to make dry skin smooth and supple.
Hot water strips oils from the skin faster than warm water. Long showers or baths actually result in dried out skin. Try to limit yourself to a single 5- or 10-minute warm shower or bath a day. Something that has hugely improved my skin has been Dew Confidence , it’s so easy to use and it not only moisturizes but also tightens my skin. Double WIN!
Drinking water is very important because it can help maintain your skin’s elasticity and combat the appearance of those dreaded wrinkles & improve the appearance of your skin. Not only does keeping skin moisturized help it appear more plump and supple, but it also helps address surface dullness by combating the buildup of dead skin cells.
Exfoliation is also very important. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. A regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.
